Our annual Lobster Boil Fundraiser on Saturday, September 30th at the OPC got our fundraising year off to a great start! We had a fun, lively day as we sold about 900 beautiful lobsters. The weather was ideal, 65 and sunny with a light breeze.

Our designated charities for the year as well as the Older Persons’ Commission are supported by this event’s profits. This year we are fundraising for Career Dress, OU Cares, Sew Much Comfort and Professional Law Enforcement Association Foundation, Inc. Representatives from PLEA gave their time and wrapped cooked lobsters right along with us! Thank you.

We had donated snacks and pop, Gatorade and water, sandwiches and cookies to energize our volunteers and scouts. Delicious coffee came from Dessert Oasis Coffee Roasters. A playlist of lobster, fishing and beach songs added enjoyment to our event.

Our wonderful sponsors, Marc Disner of People’s Fish Market and Dan Dunsky of O’Brien’s Crabhouse delivered our fresh lobsters right to our site. People’s provided a large discount to us on our lobsters and O’Brien’s supplied us with colorful bibs, placemats, and packing bags. These men along with Richard Ketchel of People’s are very supportive of our cause and this fueled their generosity in helping us. Stop in and take advantage of their establishments.

Of course, the very generous help from more than 30 of our members before and during the Boil made this event possible.  We are so thankful to the eight husbands who conscientiously cooked lobsters in the big, boiling pots. For 6 of them, this was a first and we hope they continue to be lobster boilers. And a huge thanks to the Boy Scouts of Troop 60 and their leaders who set up and cleaned up; this event depends on their generous help, year after year. We most sincerely thank the community for supporting us once again as lobster-buying customers!
