Big hats, mint juleps and an evening of fun, Ladies! Less than a week away, we will have our final fundraising event of the club year; the 3rd Annual Haute to Trot Kentucky Derby Event to be held at Van Hoosen Farm on Saturday, May 6th! The Derby Chairs Christie Pipkin and Lori Wilson, and Co-Chair, Kate DiLiddo, have delightful plans in store for our guests and members! It will be a very exciting event, not only because we are raising funds for three incredible charities, but also because it will be the first time we’ve held this event at the historic Van Hoosen Farm! It will be a fun-filled evening filled with all things Kentucky Derby!

Also, please remember that the cost of the member Derby event ticket is INCLUDED in the annual RJWC dues paid at the beginning of the club year. If you are planning to attend the event, however, you MUST reserve your space! To do so, please send an email Tanya Armitage confirming your attendance. If you cannot attend, the cost is the ticket will be considered an $85 donation to RJWC’s charities. Tickets are going to sell out, so make sure to confirm attendance!

A former member of the Rochester Juniors and current President of the Assistance League of Southeast Michigan, Marjorie Diliddo, contacted me to mention their ReSale Connection store. The ReSale Connection is located at 204 S. Main St. in Rochester (248/656-0414), and is their major fundraiser. Their programs clothe, feed, educate and comfort many in need in our area. There is a need for help to fund their food distribution, Assault Survivor Kits, school clothing and coat distribution programs.

If you are doing any spring cleaning and you have women’s clothing you no longer need, they would love your donations! You can bring any of your clothing items to the May General Meeting and I will collect them and drop them off for you. Please make sure to put your name on the items or bags, so that I can make sure you get a donation receipt! Or, please drop them off directly at the ReSale Connection! They have a designated spot at the back of the store with volunteers who are eager to help and tax receipts will be provided. They also have a consignment program for designer clothes.
